AGENCY/SCHOOL COORDINATOR
Communities In Schools of Chicago (CISC) is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to working in partnership with the Chicago Public Schools to
improve student achievement. CISC links existing health, human and other
support services to 152 Chicago public schools. During the 2007-2008 school
year, 58,000 students and families will benefit from mentoring, counseling,
substance-abuse, parent-training, violence-prevention and enrichment programs.
CISC will expand into 16 additional Chicago public schools this coming
fall, positioning our organization in more than a quarter of the schools
in CPS.
Agency/School Coordinators work with schools and agencies to develop the
capacity of both groups to establish and maintain effective partnerships
and effectively reduce barriers to student learning. Agency/School Coordinators
manage a portfolio of schools while also investigating new agency partnership
opportunities. Agency/School Coordinators work creatively to develop new
ways to expand the reach and effectiveness of local agencies in order
to have an increased impact on student academic success and general well-being.

organization with sites in close to 200 different cities and communities.
Below is a summary of the agency/school coordinator position.
Responsibilities:
" Develop and implement strategies for creating partnerships between
schools, neighborhood organizations, social service agencies, and community
institutions.
" Train and provide assistance to site coordinators in 12 Chicago
public schools related to needs assessments, community partnership coordination
and program evaluation
" Research and identify potential service providers to meet identified
needs at schools and guide the initial stages of those partnerships.
" Strategize and explore potential large-scale and replicable opportunities
to meet core needs of students.
" Represent CISC at various coalitions and community events.
" Maintain detailed records of school and agency partnerships.
" Help plan and facilitate trainings and networking events for school
and agency partners.
" Periodically observe and monitor agency/school partnerships and
services connected.
" Collect and analyze data from schools to evaluate the impact of
connected programs/services.
" Assist with other organizational projects, as needed.

Veteran School Coordinator
Communities In Schools of Chicago (CISC) is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to working in partnership with the Chicago Public
Schools (CPS) to improve student achievement. CISC links existing health,
human and other support services to 162 Chicago public schools. During
the 2007-2008 school year, 58,000 students and families benefited from
mentoring, counseling, substance-abuse, parent-training, violence-prevention
and enrichment programs. CISC will expand into 16 additional Chicago public
schools this coming fall, positioning our organization in more than a
quarter of the schools in CPS.
After four years of active partnership designed to increase the ability
of school staff to create, sustain, and maximize community partnerships,
schools transition into the technical assistance phase of CISC partnership
by joining the Veteran School Network (VSN). Upon graduating into the
VSN, schools have established long-term relationships with a number of
service providers, and are prepared to seek new partners as additional
needs arise. CISC veteran school coordinators (VSCs) respond by providing
training, consultation, and program referrals to key staff at veteran
schools. In addition to providing technical assistance to individual veteran
schools, VSCs help develop networking and training events that benefit
schools in all phases of CISC partnership. Overall, CISC veteran school
coordinators are working with 109 schools, in communities across Chicago,
during the 2008-2009 school year.
CISC is an affiliate of Communities In Schools, Inc., a
national nonprofit organization with offices in close to 200 different
cities and communities. The Chicago affiliate is nationally recognized
for its unique approach to leveraging community-based resources to address
the holistic needs of students and families. Below is a summary of the
veteran school coordinator position.
Responsibilities:
" Connect a range of agency programs to address the priorities of
each CISC veteran school
" Develop and implement strategies for creating partnerships between
schools, neighborhood organizations, service agencies, and community institutions
" Provide technical assistance to schools in needs/outcomes assessment,
scheduling and evaluating services, and strategic planning
" Maintain detailed records of community partnerships at up to 25
CISC veteran schools.
" Collect and analyze data from schools in the Veteran School Network
to evaluate the impact of connected programs/services
" Research potential service providers to meet identified needs at
schools, and guide the initial stages of those partnerships
" Periodically observe and evaluate the quality and effectiveness
of agency programs.
" Help plan and facilitate training forums for the principals, school
coordinators and program staff of the CISC school and agency networks
" Contribute to the writing and editing of CISC publications, including
articles for newsletters and annual reports
" Assist with other organizational projects, as needed

COMMUNICATIONS AND GOVERNMENT RELATIONS MANAGER
Communities In Schools of Chicago (CISC) is a nonprofit organization

community organizations to improve student achievement. During the 2007-2008
school year, CISC connected more than 1,000 services and programs to more
than 58,000 students and families including mentoring, counseling, substance-abuse,
parent-training, violence-prevention and enrichment programs. CISC links
existing health, human and other support services to 161 Chicago public
schools. CISC also partners with more than 130 community organizations
and agencies across the city who provide their programming in the schools
at no cost to the student or school.
CISC is an affiliate of Communities In Schools, Inc., a national nonprofit
organization with offices in 200 different cities and communities.
The Communications and Government Relations Associate's responsibilities
will focus on strategizing and implementing public and government awareness
efforts including developing media relations, identifying federal and
state funding opportunities, and managing organizational publications
and materials. The Communications and Government Relations Manager will
work closely with the Director of Development, the Development Associate,
the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in implementing CISC's
communications and fundraising strategies.
Responsibilities:
" Develop annual communications and government relations plans in
conjunction with members of the development and management teams.
" Manage the tactical execution of communications strategy, including
working closely with external PR firm and managing key staff members communication
with the media.
" Build CISC awareness and relationships with city, state and federal
officials and legislators.
" Identify and cultivate public funding sources.
" Collaborate on the creation, editing and publication of literature
and materials for external audiences including annual report, newsletter,
press releases, promotional videos, and information packets.
" Create new materials to share the CISC story with diverse audiences.
" Support Board and staff message dissemination through tool and
training development.
" Maintain and expand CISC website to ensure that information is
current and accurate.
" Analyze results of communications programs to support fundraising
programs.
" Work with development team to implement the comprehensive fundraising
program to meet the short- and long-term needs of CISC.

EVALUATION COORDINATOR
PART-TIME

Working approximately twenty hours per week, the Evaluation Coordinator
will play a lead role in assisting the organization in evaluating the
process and impact outcomes related to our work with schools and agencies.
Responsibilities range from designing the overall evaluation plan, developing
tools for collecting data, orienting staff to relevant collection procedures,
analysis and interpretation of information collected, and summarizing
and reporting of findings to both internal and external audiences. Below
is a summary of the evaluation coordinator position.
Responsibilities:
" Work with the management team to review and update evaluation goals
as needed.
" Lead development of annual plans for data collection, analysis,
and reporting.
" Modify or create data collection tools and processes for implementation
by general staff.
" Provide training and support to staff on evaluation tools to ensure
consistency in usage and interpretation.
" Monitor status of various tools and processes throughout the year
to ensure adherence to timeline.
" Assist in monitoring and implementing web-based student survey
in partner schools.
" Analyze and interpret data collected throughout the year.
" Prepare summaries and reports as needed for both internal and external
audiences.
" Engage management and/or other staff in developing organizational
understanding and utilization of findings.
" Assist development staff in preparing reports to funders and articulating
organizational impact.
" Assist in managing additional consultants relevant to evaluation.
" Assist with other organizational projects, as needed.
